One teen is dead and another is in critical condition after a stabbing at Tsawwassen First Nations Friday night.
Delta police were called to the 1700-block of Tsawwassen Drive at about 10:10 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found two teens girls suffering from stab wounds lying on the ground.
“Both victims were treated at the scene by paramedics and fire personnel, and were subsequently rushed to local hospital,” said Delta police spokesperson Const. Ciaran Feenan.
The 16-year-old victim later died of her injuries. The second victim, a 15-year-old girl, is currently in critical condition.
Investigators were on scene into Saturday morning looking for a known suspect.
“Investigators believe that the victims and the suspect knew one another, and do not believe that the public is at risk,” Feenan said.
Early Saturday morning, the investigative team was preparing arrest warrants for the suspect, who cannot be identified at this time.
The names of the victims have not yet been released.
