Residents can now watch Delta council meetings online.

This week, the Corporation of Delta launched live webcasting of council meetings and public hearings through Delta's website (www.delta.ca).

"I am pleased to introduce webcasting," said Mayor Lois Jackson. "This new service enhances direct public access to the decisions, questions and deliberations that happen at this council table - and provides a great medium for connecting residents with their local government."

The new service complements other recent developments at municipal hall.

Building towards a goal of making local government more accessible, transparent and accountable, last year Delta launched its Facebook, Twitter and YouTube sites.

Delta is also working on the redevelopment of its website, which is scheduled to be launched this fall.
