This is the best organic ice cream in Burnaby – get the twist

I’m greedy when it comes to desserts. Why have just one thing when you can combine several things into an even more spectacular concoction. It’s why my friends stop me from going to Menchie’s because I pile too much onto my frozen yogurt.

I’m greedy when it comes to desserts.

Why have just one thing when you can combine several things into an even more spectacular concoction.

It’s why my friends stop me from going to Menchie’s because I pile too much onto my frozen yogurt.

But I digress.

I’m here to talk about Soft Peaks Ice Cream on Kingsway in Burnaby and how they have three flavours for their base: organic milk, dark chocolate or the twist that combines both.

Guess which one I go for?

I like a little twist in my life because it’s the best of both worlds.

The organic milk is only lightly sweetened while the dark chocolate is insanely rich and deep in flavour. It’s a great balance.

Once you have your base set to roll, you go for one of the other choices for what goes with it, from a piece of Fraser Valley honeycomb to Himalayan pink salt to Yuzu marmalade to cornflakes.

Yes, cornflakes.

It’s pretty crazy stuff and it’s all organic with Avalon milk. They also use dextrose to replace GMO sugar like high fructose corn syrup.

You can go decadent or you can go for subtle sweetness.

I like the handcrafted taste and knowing I’m getting all organic ingredients.
