Erica Beard (Achieving for Delta)

A lifelong Delta resident, Erica Beard is a passionate advocate for healthy and active communities where families can thrive.

She is a registered nurse with experience in a wide variety of healthcare fields including clinical practice and education. In 2018, she was elected to the Delta School Board with the Achieving for Delta team on a commitment to being a voice for young families.

Erica has spent the last four years listening to the community, strengthening relationships, taking feedback to heart and passionately representing the best interests of Delta.

She is running for re-election to continue to build on the board’s achievements over the last four years and continue to advance key priorities, including improving accessibility, inclusivity and health and wellness of the school environment.

In her free time, Erica enjoys staying active, hiking and hosting game nights with friends and family. You’re likely to run into Erica, her husband Jordan and their two young daughters at a community event accompanied by their dog Dexter.

What are your election issues:

As a lifelong Delta resident, Delta School District parent and trustee, I have a vested interest in the Delta School District.

The Achieving for Delta team has committed to ensuring student mental and physical health and wellbeing, enhancing inclusivity for all students, putting Delta students first, and keeping students safe. I believe these issues are in alignment with the Delta School District’s Vision 2030, a vision I strongly support.

Achieving for Delta School trustee candidates are committing to a plan to keep students safe in schools and in the community. It is often the students without a strong support network or those experiencing challenges related to mental health, food security, and a lack of stable housing who are more vulnerable to making choices that could lead to their safety being compromised.

Keeping students safe is about creating inclusive environments and support networks to help them focus on their education and make positive life choices. A positive working relationship between the board of trustees, school staff and community partners is vital to ensure student safety and success. I value the ongoing commitment from all education and community partners to maintain student-focused, open and respectful communication, and a shared goal of the ongoing enhancement of the student experience.

The Achieving for Delta team includes candidates with diverse perspectives and experience, who are all united by Mayor George Harvie’s vision to move Delta forward. The only way we can achieve our goals and deliver significant investments for Delta is with the entire Achieving for Delta team elected to council and school board.
