The Delta Film Academy is hosting a panel discussion geared towards prospective students next week.

Academy acting instructors Richard Cox, Cameron Bancroft and Alex Zahara will be on the panel, said Delta Film Academy coordinator Jennifer Harbott. "They're going to be speaking about what it takes to make it in Hollywood North," she explained, adding that will include topics like auditions, agents and training. The academy is open to students from grades 8 to 12 and there is space left for next year, she said.

Students get individualized coaching from professionals and will be able to build their demo reels, Harbott noted.

The event takes place Thursday, May 12 at 7 p.m. at the Delta Manor Education Centre, 4750-57th St., Ladner.

Harbott also said there will be an open casting call for a film being produced by Film Production Academy teacher Garnet Campbell at the end of the panel discussion.

She added a gala screening of all the work the film academy has put out over the year is planned for June 15 at the education centre.
