Man escapes unharmed after RV goes up in flames in West Vancouver (PHOTOS)

“The RV was quickly fully involved.”

A man has escaped unharmed after his RV went up in flames while he was driving in West Vancouver last night (Feb. 9).

Fire crews were called to the scene in Dundarave, at Marine Drive and 24th Street, about 9 p.m. to find the RV engulfed in fire.

Matt Furlot, assistant fire chief with West Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services, said luckily the man realized his vehicle was ablaze.

“The driver recognized it was on fire, so he stopped and got out,” he said.

“The RV was quickly fully involved.”

Furlot said the man didn't sustain any injuries and no one else was in the RV at the time. He said crews doused the fire and used foam, remaining at the scene afterwards to clean-up and make sure the roadway was clear.

West Vancouver Police said the cause of the fire is a suspected mechanical issue and is not considered suspicious.

Images of the RV engulfed in flames began circulating on social media last night and a video of the fire was posted to Reddit.
