Another new U.S.-based airline has started operating out of Vancouver International Airport.

Sun Country Airlines landed at YVR on Wednesday, kicking off a twice-weekly, non-stop, summer service to and from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP).

The 40-year-old low-cost airline will offer the four-hour flight every Wednesday and Saturday at the following times:

June 15 to Sept. 3:

MSP to YVR – depart 8:45 a.m. - arrival 10:50 a.m. (Pacific time);

YVR to MSP – depart 11:50 a.m. - arrival 17:20 p.m. (Pacific time).

A return flight next week, for example, would cost about $260 (U.S.), before fees and add-ons.

“Connecting people, places and community is at the heart of what we do at YVR,” said Russell Atkinson, director, Air Service Development at Vancouver Airport Authority.

“As the world reopens to travel, we are excited to welcome another new airline partner, Sun Country, to provide an additional option.”

YVR is Sun Country’s first Canadian destination and comes hot on the heels of New York-based low-cost airline Jet Blue launching its daily service to JFK.
