UPDATE: Federal election: Qualtrough lead increases in Delta

Liberal candidate Carla Qualtrough has an early lead on election night.

UPDATED AS OF 8:30 P.M.

Delta Liberal incumbent Carla Qualtrough has increased her lead here in Delta.

With 25 of 181 polls reporting as of 8:30 p.m., Qualtrough had 1,511 votes, Conservative Garry Shearer has 1,164 votes, NDP’s Monika Dean 648 votes, Jeremy Smith from the Greens with 106 votes, Paul Tarasenko with the People’s Party with 72 votes and Independent Melody Pan with 17 votes.

In the national picture, CBC projected that the Liberals would form government at 7:27 p.m. with Global News following suit with that projection at 7:33 p.m.

At 7:52 p.m., Global News projected that the Liberals would form a minority government.

As of 8:31 p.m., the Liberals were leading or elected in 157 ridings, Conservatives 121, NDP 29, Bloq, 29 and Greens 2.
