According to the Hyack Festival Association, additional post-secondary scholarship awards provided by community supporters and local businesses means young women taking part in the 2021 program are eligible for a total of $24,000 in awards.

Participants will complete workshops and training on leadership, career skills, personal development. They will also take part in local service and volunteer opportunities.

“The Hyack Ambassadors uphold a mandate of ‘Serving Our Community – Representing Our City’, engaging the community in New Westminster, with the opportunity to travel B.C. and the Pacific Northwest as representatives of the Royal City,” said the press release. “As one of the longest-running youth programs in New Westminster, the Hyack Ambassador Program strives to encourage, educate and empower young women through these activities.”
