The New Westminster Council of Women is delving in to urban density.

The group, which has been advocating on behalf of families in New Westminster since 1893, is inviting community members to attend a free online panel about urban density on Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 7 to 9 p.m. on Zoom.

“How is increased population density impacting New Westminster? Our population is increasing but available land is not. Land prices and housing costs are skyrocketing,” said a notice about the event. “The city is faced with planning challenges. Neighbourhoods may feel threatened.”

The panel features Mayor Jonathan Cote, Emily Adin (the city’s director of development services), housing advocate Angela Sealy and Connaught Heights resident Corina Stainsby.

“This is a free public event,” said event organizers in an email to the Record. “Both men and women are welcome to attend.
