New Westminster Police Department's food bank fundraiser a success

New Westminster Police Department surpassed its $3,000 fundraising goal for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society – with help from community members.

Along with an online fundraising campaign, the police department held a drive-thru food drive at city hall on Nov. 21, when it collected food and cash donations for the food bank. Police spokesperson Sgt. Sanjay Kumar said one full tote of food and $622 in cash donations was collected at the event.

“There were generous donations of baby food, canned salmon and dried pasta,” he said in an email to the Record. “In addition, there were cash donations to the $3,480 of online donations.”
