Co. ERASGA is celebrating its 20th anniversary season with the world premiere of a new work, onstage in New Westminster.

The acclaimed dance company will be at Anvil Centre on Nov. 28 and 29 for both live and livestreamed audiences.

Offering, created by artistic director and choreographer Alvin Erasga Tolentino, is a collection of solo works performed by six top and diverse Vancouver dancers.

A press release notes the performance “aspires to honour the living practice of dance and dancing and the challenges of keeping this art form alive during this extraordinary time of the pandemic crisis and isolation.”

In the new creation, Tolentino asks each dancer to explore movement as a form of devotion and prayer, allowing the dance to “transcend luminous energy,” as the release explains.

“Each work individually and together as a full-evening presentation, Offering becomes a performance ritual, evoking a spiritual reach for a universal interconnect, awareness and healing for the world.”

It’s performed by dancers Joshua Ongcol, Olivia Shaffer, Marc Arboleda, Antonio Somera, Molly McDermott and Marissa Wong.

Live performances will be onstage Saturday, Nov. 28 and Sunday, Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. both days. Ticket prices are to be confirmed. Livestreams will also be shown by donation on a sliding scale.
