Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion
Former New West resident Chris Boyd donned some festive attire to celebrate the release of The Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion, a children's book he co-authored with Jordan Birch. It's just one of the many children's books available at Kinder Books, which opened in River Market in New West earlier this year.

Kinder Books is carrying a newly published book that aims to inspire kindness, connection and generosity during the holidays.

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellionis a children’s book written by Chris Boyd and Jordan Birch, creators of the Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Party, an annual event held at the Commodore Ballroom for more than a decade. (Kinder Books opened in River Market in New West earlier this year.)

The Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion captures the magic of holiday traditions, weaves connection between generations, and reminds people young and old of what truly matters during the festive season,” said a press release about the book. “The authors see the book as a chance to continue the legacy they’ve built, to give back to children in need, and to create something special for their Ugly Christmas Sweater community. The Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Parties were a reason for friends and family to connect and give back. To carry on the tradition, each copy of The Ugly Christmas Sweater Rebellion sold gives a meal to a child in need.”

Boyd, who lived in New West from 2015 to 2018, attended school with Birch just across the border at St. Thomas More Collegiate. While a lot has changed since they launched the Original Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in 2002, they’re hoping their newly published book serves as a reminder of the magic of the holidays.
