Four COVID-19 outbreaks active in Burnaby, one declared over

One Burnaby COVID-19 outbreak has been declared over while four others are still active, according to Fraser Health.

Fraser Health has declared COVID-19 an outbreak over at Burnaby’s Dania Home. Dania Home is a long-term care facility in Burnaby that is owned and operated by Dania Home Society.

Still active is an outbreak at Agecare Harmony Court Estates in Burnaby, which has seen at least one COVID-19 exposure, according to Fraser Health.

This follows a resident at George Derby Centre in Burnaby testing positive for the virus, according to Fraser Health.

“Enhanced control measures have been put in place at each site. Fraser Health is working with staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families,” said a Fraser Health news release.

A resident at Finnish Manor tested positive for COVID-19. Finnish Manor is a long term care facility in Burnaby that is owned and operated by Jubilee Multi-Generational Housing Society.

Fraser Health has also been dealing with a large COVID-19 outbreaks at Fellburn Care Centre in Burnaby, which has seen more than 50 cases in its outbreak, including more than a dozen staff members testing positive for COVID-19. 

New cases of COVID-19 jumped by 21% in Burnaby last month, as cases in the city have surged since the beginning of September. Cases spiked again in October, with 287 compared to 238 cases in September.
