Re:  Richmond Tow Truck Hosting Mobile Haunted Show, online, Oct. 15.

I am very disappointed to hear the city is preventing a community member from offering a Halloween show that follows advice from Dr. Bonnie, the BCCDC Halloween recommendations and the public health order.

The organizer and owner of Jonny’s Towing has made it clear he will meet or exceed public health protocols, but instead staff are quick to say no.

We will likely be living with COVID-19 for many, many months to come. It is important to support and find ways to work within the detailed protocols that must be in place.

Halloween is an important family tradition and the City of Richmond has failed to offer any activities or alternatives. This is very disappointing, as other municipalities have stepped up and organized safe, fun activities.

*Editor’s note: The City of Richmond clarified the mobile haunted show didn’t meet provincial health orders, but the owner was informed if he complies with the orders, the city would work with him. The city’s Halloween events are online this year.
