Celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary with the Dragon Zone Paddling Club

We’d all be paddling in circles in life if not for our friends and family in the community.

We’d all be paddling in circles in life if not for our friends and family in the community.

The Dragon Zone Paddling Club is celebrating—while also strengthening—those connections at the 29th annual Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival by asking you to step out of your comfort zone and into a flat water race canoe.

To mark the celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, locals are being asked to come together as we build a 30-foot-long C15 Race Canoe. Interact with the individuals that have built these canoes and find out about the their experience and the community reception of the project over the past few months.

The interactive display will allow the public to roll up their sleeves and put their boat building skills to the test.  Come and find out if you love the smell of fresh cedar shavings and want to contribute in a future build of one of these canoes.  A total of three, C15 race canoes will be handcrafted in three B.C. cities: Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby.
