Small business owners in Coquitlam wanting help to build a website can get some free tips this month.

Owners with less than 50 employees — and with a valid business licence — are invited to take part in two webinars to help them launch an online presence and to grow traffic: Nov. 17 at 11 a.m., and Nov. 26 at 4 p.m.

The free one-hour sessions, hosted by the city of Coquitlam, are being run by Webnames.ca, a B.C.-based domain registrar and website management firm with roots in Coquitlam.

Its Webnames.ca LiteSite package is free for the first year, with renewals at $50 annually; the package includes a dot-ca domain name, a one-page website, an email address and an SSL certificate.

The webinars are aimed at helping businesses struggling during the global health pandemic as many consumers are turning to online shopping, and owners are needing to advertise their products and services as well as hours of operation, for example.

To sign up, call the city’s economic development team at 604-927-3905 or email economicdevelopment@coquitlam.ca.
