It’s become a new tradition in Vancouver, right up there with the Stanley Park herons returning to nest, spring tulips and the early arrival of the Canucks golf season.

Every night at 7 p.m., residents across the city — but particularly in the West End — gather on their balconies to bang pots and pans or shout out their windows in appreciation of health care workers and all that they are doing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
