Dear Editor:

We are so grateful to the entire North Shore community for their unprecedented and generous contributions to our Poppy Campaign!

This has been a record year for donations and we are humbled and moved by the tremendous outpouring of support.

Our Branch alone raised over $71,000 this year! THANK YOU!

The Royal Canadian Legion is the guardian of the Poppy and Remembrance in Canada. Each Poppy Campaign is very much a local initiative, conducted by individual Legion Branches in their local communities across the country.

Lynn Valley Legion 114 represents and supports the District of North Vancouver. Donations collected during the Poppy Campaign are held in Trust at the Branch level to directly support

Veterans, including Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP, and their families who are in need; seniors, youth and the community at large.

Our volunteer Poppy Taggers were out in force this year with socially distanced Poppy stands in various areas of the District. We gratefully acknowledge the support of the North Shore Salvation Army for allowing us to use and adapt their Christmas kettles for our needs. The support we received from local merchants for our Poppy boxes was amazing and more have indicated their interest for next year.

It was the support from the community at large that was the most gratifying. The input from everyday people and the thanks they conveyed whether chatting with one of our Taggers, offering their time to help us out, emailing us with stories of their families sacrifices for our freedoms, dropping off donations at the Branch or expressing gratitude for what we, as a Branch, do for the community was so encouraging and appreciated.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts. We welcome all those that wish to learn more about us and what we do to stop by and have a chat. We'd love to thank you in person.

Diana Saboe
President, Lynn Valley Legion, Branch 114
