Realtors make navigating the real estate market easier from Day 1

Buying or selling a home can seem like an overwhelming process, but it doesn’t have to be. A good Realtor can make all the difference.

A Realtor can help right from the time a client starts considering home ownership or selling, according to Daniel Card, a Realtor with Royal LePage West. R.E.S. in Port Coquitlam.

“This gives us an opportunity to sit down and talk to the client about what they’re thinking, talk about what they’re feeling, and put a plan into place,” he says.

Real estate agents help with short-term to long-term planning – for those ready to enter the real estate market today, to those who are considering their options a year or two down the road.

Clients who work with a listing or buyer’s agent early in the process can come up with a customized plan that covers their specific goals, according to Card, whether they want to sell their property as soon as possible, or buy a starter home but need time to secure the financing.

Card suggests potential clients put together a list of questions before meeting with a Realtor. Realtors will make a presentation about the process of buying or selling a property that usually answers all of those questions, because anyone who wants to enter the real estate market needs to learn as much as possible to make the process easier.

First-time home buyers in particular need to learn all the steps to buying a home, Card says, whereas homeowners looking to sell usually have specific questions in mind, such as how fast homes in their area are selling, or if their home is likely to sell over asking price.

“It’s important to sit down with clients, clearly explain the process and make sure they don’t become overwhelmed,” Card says. “In the end, the whole process needs to be as easy and straightforward for the clients as possible.”
