Metro Vancouver has lifted its air quality advisory for the region and the Fraser Valley, which had been in effect for 11 days.

Air quality has improved due to “cleaner marine air flowing into the region,” according to a statement from Metro Vancouver.

The advisory was first issued Sept. 8, after smoke from wildfires in Oregon and Washington State made its way across the border.

Meanwhile, the province’s Air Quality Health Index rates areas in Metro Vancouver as “low risk.”

However, Metro Vancouver says that while fine particulate matter concentrations have “decreased significantly,” pockets of local smoke may still be visible in parts of the region, as smoke concentrations can vary as winds and temperatures change.
