Ride-hailing company Lyft is offering Metro Vancouver residents a discounted ride to get to polling locations in the region, beginning on Oct. 15 for advance voting and ending at 8 p.m. on Oct. 24, B.C. election day.

Riders must use the code “VOTEBC2020” to get 50% off a Lyft ride (up to $10) to a polling location.

“Transportation should never be a barrier to getting to the polls, no matter how you choose to cast your ballot,” said Peter Lukomskyj, general manager for Lyft in B.C., in a news release. “At Lyft, we’re pleased to be helping facilitate these crucial rides for people in Metro Vancouver as they exercise their right to vote.”

Many voters are choosing to not vote in person

Elections B.C. said Tuesday that an estimated 680,000 registered voters have requested a vote-by-mail package.
