The lead story that edition was a heated council meeting, which almost resulted in fisticuffs, when a group of Pebble Hill residents wanted to speak as a delegation to express their frustration over their neighbourhood running out of water yet again. The group said the lack of water was a serious concern and that council should listen to them. The meeting had to be adjourned.

Another story was about the tragic death of a 58-year-old man whose light aircraft crashed at the Delta Air Park. One of the other stories was about Michael Duncan being hired as the new curator of the Delta Museum. He talked about the importance of having a museum that should be more interesting to residents including young people.

One of the big editorials that issue was on the need for Delta to have its own municipal airport at Boundary Bay. Its benefits would include attracting more light industry.

Another editorial talked about how shoplifting had long been a thorn in the side of local merchants “but incidents of thefts of this kind has reached almost epidemic propositions.”

Here’s a few other things that appeared in the paper that day…
