There's no indication this strip mall in the heart of Ladner Village will transform in the future.
The 1983 photo above shows the Ladner Centre shopping mall on Delta Street with Pinky Laundry, Lux's Delicatessen, Delta Bakery, Delta Beauty Salon, Ladner Florist Shoppe and TJ's Restaurant.
The strip mall is basically unchanged since then with the exception of the successful Delta Hospital Auxiliary thirift shop now owning most of the space.

Having ample parking, the one-storey strip mall in the heart of Ladner Village has come up during the Ladner Village Renewal Advisory Committee's discussions.
Asked for his take on the building, guest speaker Brian Hart, a longtime local architect, in a recent meeting noted it may be a sensitive subject. Saying it will be up to the auxiliary, he suggested redevelopment is the best way to go.
Critical of the designs of most of the buildings in the area, he said much of the village “is bulldozer fodder” built after the Second World War.

A multi-storey structure replacing the strip mall could have the thrift store and other businesses continue to occupy commercial space below but also have seniors' housing above, he suggested as one idea.
Hart and the other architect guest speakers also gave a frank assessment of city’s policies, which they argued don’t coincide with what’s economically feasible to finally encourage redevelopment in the village.
