Remember going down to grab some pop at a Pop Shoppe?

Back in October of 1973 a new Pop Shoppe opened just off 56th Street in Tsawwassen.

“The Pop Shoppe is the latest addition to the ever increasing variety of specialty shops springing up in Delta. Here customers are offered discount priced soft drinks (14 flavours) in large or small bottles, by the case only, and a variety of potato chips, mixed nuts and popcorn. Ideal for parties and get togethers,” an ad in the Delta Optimist stated.

The original Pop Shoppe was a soft drink retailer which started in 1969 in Ontario.

Within a few short years it grew to over 500 stores in Canada and some U.S. states, selling over 30 different flavours.

The original company ceased operations in 1983

The brand was restarted a decade later with the product sold in conventional stores.
