Here’s a weekend flashback from 1964.

The business on Chisholm Street in Ladner Village had been a South Delta staple since the 1930s when it was originally opened by Doug’s dad, George Massey. The business after many years moved to an adjacent premises, the former general store building known as The Big Store, which was constructed in 1907.

Garry Notenbomer took over the business from Massey in the 1990s and in 2003 he restored the Big Store heritage building.

In 2013 Notenbomer closed the business, known as Massey’s Marine Supply, citing changes in the boating industry.
