ICBC warns drivers of road safety this Halloween

The spookiest night is approaching and ICBC is telling drivers to take more caution when driving on the roads this Thursday. According to ICBC, there were 1,000 crashes resulting in 370 people getting injured in B.C. last year on Halloween.

The spookiest night is approaching and ICBC is telling drivers to take more caution when driving on the roads this Thursday.

According to ICBC, there were 1,000 crashes resulting in 370 people getting injured in B.C. last year on Halloween. The Lower Mainland alone saw an average of 660 crashes with 260 injuries.

For drivers, ICBC recommends:

  • Stay below the speed limit
  • Have patience and not pass slow or stopped vehicles
  • Leave your phone alone
  • Watch for children and surrounding area

For trick-or-treaters, ICBC advises:

  • Wear something bright and reflective
  • Follow road rules, walk on sidewalks and cross at crosswalks
  • Don’t drink and drive, plan a safe way home if alcohol is involved
