The Ladner Business Association is hosting an online Christmas carol competition in which businesses, families, co-workers and children can participate in.

Jill McKnight, LBA president says the competition is meant to be fun, playful and exciting. The contest, which will run between Nov. 26 and Dec. 15, will have four categories available to compete in and the possibility for bonus prizes, McKnight hopes some businesses start to challenge each other in making the better Christmas carol video.

McKnight says the video submission should be no longer than a minute and should include the video’s participants singing part of a Christmas carol. To submit a video it must be uploaded to social media along with the hashtag #LBAholidaycheer and tag @discoverladner and @ladnerbusiness.

From there, the LBA will then narrow the submissions down to the top three choices for each category and will then share them through the LBA’s website so people without access to social media can still weigh in on which video is their favourite.

Since businesses within the LBA will be serving as sponsors for the prizes, McKnight says the prizes will be purchased from local businesses that are most applicable to the winners in each category.
