Hawthorne Elementary principal Matt Carruthers cut the ribbon at an opening ceremony for the school's new intermediate playground last month. The school fundraised for three years (including spring fairs and a walkathon) for the playground. Ladner Minor Fastpitch donated to the project and the Corporation of Delta contributed $32,000. The school had a community build in September with around 30 parents.
