The sunshine and strong community spirit were very much in evidence at McHappy Day in South Delta on May 8 benefiting Reach Child and Youth Development Society.

Delta police and Delta fire were out in force manning McDonald’s restaurant drive thrus in Ladner and Tsawwassen as well as helping out behind the counter inside.

Holly Elementary and Southpointe Academy choirs, Southpointe Jazz band, Deas Island Dance, O’Brien School of Irish Dance, Mike & Em Greene’s band, including daughter Lucy, came out and performed at the high energy day.

Dedicated Reach volunteers and staff were on site helping with sock and giant TV raffle ticket sales and crafting and face painting with children throughout the day.

McDonald’s staff good-naturedly managed all the additional McHappy Day traffic and one TV was awarded at both Ladner and Tsawwassen McDonald’s locations in the evening.

Reach was grateful to all volunteers, performers, McDonald’s staff and South Delta residents who came out to support the cause.
