Ioanna Psiharis and Haakon Hanson got a beautiful snowy day for their Valentine's weekend wedding

As if having your wedding postponed three times, deciding on a last-minute ceremony on Valentine’s weekend and then finding out you were expecting twins wasn’t enough, Ioanna Psiharis got snow on her big day as well.

Psiharis and her now husband, Haakon Hanson, made the News last week with three of the aforementioned events coming together in the space of a few days.

The pair was due to get married at a 10-person pop-up wedding ceremony at the Executive Hotel Vancouver Airport – on Westminster Highway – last Saturday.

And, as luck would have it, the snow came down in abundance on the morning of the childhood sweethearts’ big day.

It all made for a very romantic, snowy setting in the hotel’s courtyard for the couple’s official wedding photos.

“The wedding was fantastic. I’m so happy with how everything turned out,” Psiharis told the News.

The couple’s original wedding date of Sept. 14, 2020 - with a reception at Newlands Golf Club in Langley after a ceremony at a Greek church in Burnaby – was postponed in May due to the pandemic.

Their re-arranged date in November, at the same venues, was postponed in September, with no end to COVID restrictions on public gatherings in sight.

They went for third-time lucky on Feb. 13, 2021 but, realizing early in the year that it had no chance, the couple pushed it yet again, this time to the same date in February 2022.

That was until Psiharis heard about the pop-up weddings at the Executive hotel, along with event planners Event To.The.Nines and its partner Proline Events.
