Don’t miss the opportunity to experience live opera in a free community concert presented later this month by ElderCollege Delta in partnership with KinVillage Community Centre.

An Afternoon at the Opera will feature accomplished soprano Chloe Hurst, accompanied by Vancouver-based professionals Richard Epp on piano and Ray Kirkham on trumpet.

The Tuesday, March 24 concert will showcase the great soprano arias in the opera repertoire over the past 400 years.

Hailed by Opera Canada as having “enviable clarity and precision,” Hurst’s talent has taken her around the world, performing across North America, Europe and China in operas, concerts and competitions. She is also on the faculty of the Vancouver Academy of Music.

Epp is a vocal coach, pianist and conductor whose varied career includes coaching for the Opera Workshop at UBC as well as conducting numerous UBC School of Music operas. He has also appeared in recital on CBC and toured North America as an accompanist and chamber musician.

Kirkham, a member of the Vancouver Chamber Orchestra and the Vancouver Symphony, has made numerous recordings for CBC and has credits on a number of film music scores.

The concert takes place from 2 to 3 p.m. at KinVillage Community Centre. Tea and Timbits will be served from 1:30 p.m. for $3.
