Summer is around the corner which is a signal the popular South Delta car boot sales are about to commence.

Volunteers of the Boundary Bay Park Association have announced the 2019 schedule for the 16th season of the sales that will be held on Saturdays twice monthly at Centennial Beach in Boundary Bay.

The first sale will be Saturday, June 8 from 8.30 a.m. to noon, weather permitting.

The $10 fee for vendors, which has remained unchanged for several years, provides two parking spaces – one for the vehicle, one for the wares -- on a first come, first served basis. Gates will open at 8 a.m. for set up and a vendor should provide their own display material and ground cover.

A volunteer is always on hand to offer suggestions and assistance with set up as well as loaning the odd tarp if needed. All stalls should be dismantled and cleared by 12.30 p.m.

Future dates are June 22, July 13 and 27, Aug. 10 and 24, and Sept. 7.

Although Tsawwassen boasts more than its share of sunshine, if the weather is inclement, a decision to cancel the sale will be made on the morning of the event.

For those not familiar with the term car boot sale, it follows the traditional British form of a market where the boot, or trunk, of the car is used as a location to sell household items, garden goods, crafts or anything that might no longer be of use to the owner.
