For the Love of Art will be celebratingthe abundance of creativity that can be found in South Delta.

The brainchild of local artist Jan Rankin, the inaugural event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Harris Barn (4140 Arthur Dr.) in Ladner. Featuring 26 artists, including sculptors, potters, painters and photographers, it’s a chance to showcase and sell their work to the public in a beautiful, historic venue.

“My desire is to bring together, in one place, the diverse talent and creativity of art and artists in South Delta,” said Rankin. “This is a celebration of the creativity of South Delta, to create an opportunity to show and sell our work to the public and, of course, to have some fun.”

Music will be performed throughout the day by Daniel Degoutiere and Dan Lonsdale.

The White Spot food truck will be on site and raffle tickets for some great bags of goodies will be sold with all proceeds going to support the Little House Society.

Rankin said it was important to her to include a fundraising component to the event.

“Last year I organized an event to support the displaced animals from the Interior wildfires,” she explained. “When I started getting feedback on who we could support, a few of the artists suggested Little House. I hadn’t heard about Little House, so I thought it’s probably an organization worthy of some public attention.”

Little House has been serving the Delta community for more than 30 years, providing support and hope for those touched by substance abuse.

“We are so honoured to be selected as the event beneficiary,” said Little House executive director Joni Wright. “Raising awareness for the programs and services offered at Little House Society helps all residents of Delta, and talking about substance use disorder and mental health issues hopefully encourages a larger conversation.”
