Award-winning thespians from Ladner are at the forefront of the latest production for Vancouver’s Metro Theatre.

Morrison is working alongside her partner Les Eskrine who is the set and lighting designer and long-serving general manager for the theatre, while Tracy-Lynn Chernaske is the scenic painter, set decorator and photographer.

“It’s an amazing and talented team both behind the scenes and on stage,” Morrison said. “I’m blessed to have so many wonderful people working alongside me.”

Morrison describes the production as Back to the Future with sex and violence.

“If you could go back in time, what in your past would you like to change? How would you re-write your personal history? The women of Communicating Doors get that chance,” she said.

“This is such an interesting script. It has time travel, women’s empowerment, two men who are money launderers and illegal arms dealers – it is incredibly topical and how Alan Ayckbourn wrote it in 1995 and could predict in some ways with unerring accuracy is quite remarkable.”

She said this is the ninth or tenth production that she and Eskrine have worked together on.

“A lot of our production meetings happen at the kitchen counter,” she said with a laugh. “It has been a tricky show to do because there are a lot of cues that sometimes fall on top of each other. It’s quite a complicated show. I have an excellent cast and I feel really great about how it’s all come together.

“But I must say that it is also very thought provoking and also quite funny. I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say that the audience will be in for a fair share of surprises.”

Tickets for the show are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors/students with a special two for $37 special on Thursdays.

Tickets can be reserved by calling the box office at 604-266-7191 or online at:

Metro Theatre Centre is located at 1370 Marine Dr. in Vancouver.
