A new community Halloween event is coming to Ladner.

The Millennium Trail Pumpkin Walk is set for Friday, Oct. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Located at the centre of the Millennium Trail in Ladner’s Hampton Cove, the event will feature a display of Jack o’ Lanterns from the community, live music, a scavenger hunt for missing treasures, a food drive for the South Delta Food Bank, and the opportunity for a fun walk and a hot drink.

Event sponsors include Michael Lepore-Royal LePage Regency, Captain’s Cove Marina, Polygon Homes and Coronation Cleaning Services.

“We’re committed to building the event over the next three years, steadily stretching displays along the trail in front of the marina,” said Lepore. “In time, we hope to see a huge variety of pumpkins on display from families, organizations and businesses across the community.”

Helping to get the inaugural event underway, nearby Neilson Grove Elementary will be preparing more than 100 pumpkin creations. There are no fees to visit, Halloween costumes are encouraged, and there is an open invitation to put your own pumpkin(s) on display.

To join in, visit www.ladnerpumpkinwalk.ca for a few simple guidelines.

Visitors can support the South Delta Food Bank by helping to fill a “Haunted Van” with non-perishable donations.
