After years of editing Ladner’s Ann Westlake has published a book of her own.

Sudden Arrival: Sudden Departure – The Twin Left Behind a True Story of Loss and Rebirth is a self-help book on grieving and recovery with a positive note to it, she explains.

The book is based on her own life, says Westlake, whose identical twin sister Kathryn passed away in 1999 at age 45 due to an aneurysm.

“I miss her dearly still, but I know I have finished grieving for her not being there,” says Westlake, who has run her own book editing business for 25 years.

Westlake spent two years working on the book, which started out as a personal journey. She was sparked to begin the project after seeing a post on Facebook one morning about death.

“It woke me up,” says Westlake, who majored in English and minored in history while studying at the University of Toronto.

“I sat down at the computer and the next thing I knew I had an outline and 10 chapter titles and the book just kind of grew,” she explains.

Westlake has a signing event scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Black Bond Books in Ladner. For more on the new book visit wcediting.com.

She also hopes to have an event in early January at the Ladner Pioneer Library.
