Lawn bowling, refreshments and a chance to fundraise for a good cause are on tap later this month in Tsawwassen.

Lawn Summer Nights is a unique lawn bowling fundraiser held in cities across the country to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Canada.

Funded in Vancouver in 2009, the event has helped raise more than $2.7 million, generated awareness about cystic fibrosis and has introduced thousands of young Canadians to community engagement all while playing one of summer’s classic leisure sports.

The second annual Lawn Summer Nights takes place at the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club on Friday, July 12 at 5:30 p.m.

Last year the event sold out fast and organizers are expecting another fantastic turnout.

Nearly 25 teams will be raising money and awareness for cystic fibrosis.

“Our son Mason is four and was diagnosed through newborn screening with CF,” said organizer Kristen Thomas. “We wanted to bring this fun event to Tsawwassen to bring awareness of the disease and help raise funds for such fortunate and expensive drugs that those suffering with CF desperately need.”
