Teresa Lynne and Mike Bismeyer from SEON, Safe Fleet, visited Reach Child and Youth Development Society recently to present a $1,000 grant from their United Against Bullying initiative (UAB).

A total of $50,000 was distributed to organizations in North America this year from UAB, the national social campaign of Safe Fleet, provider of safety solutions for fleet vehicles, and its subsidiaries.

"Our United Against Bullying initiative is truly allowing us to make a difference and network with community heroes like the Reach Child and Youth Development Society," said Bismeyer.

"Their efforts to educate with inclusiveness and compassion are a perfect match with our belief that Kindness is Cool."

The UAB funds will help Reach complete the playground at their new children's development centre currently under construction in Ladner.

The nature themed playground encourages imaginative play and will reduce discrimination as typically developing children and children with needs play and learn from each other in an inclusive environment.

Once complete, the new three-storey Reach Centre will serve as a place of learning and belonging for children with special needs and their families.

The centre will provide therapy and counseling rooms, youth program areas, specialized lending libraries, an inclusive pre-school with accessible playground, and expanded event space for municipal, business and community use.
