Sidekick Players Club presents The Ladies Foursome featuring Claire Minns (Dory), Marci Chimich (Connie), Sarah Green (Tate) and Cathy Collis (Margot) at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre starting Wednesday, June 12.

Sidekick Players Club brings the curtain down on its 22nd season of community theatre in South Delta next week.

Its final production is Norm Foster’s hilarious new comedy The Ladies Foursome, which opens on Wednesday, June 12 at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.

Directed by Carroll Lefebvre, The Ladies Foursome tells the tale of four women who play a round of golf after attending a friend’s funeral. The round leads to gossip and secrets as they discuss sex, marriage and a multitude of other topics.

“It’s typical Foster where there are laughs, but there is a lot going on in the subtext and you come away wondering what if,” said Lefebvre.

The cast includes Claire Minns (Dory), Marci Chimich (Connie), Sarah Green (Tate) and Cathy Collis (Margot).

“The cast is great,” added Lefebvre. “I’ve worked with Claire as she was a part of Fighting Days, while I’ve worked with Cathy within Sidekick and Marci was in Burn. Sarah is new, she is from White Rock. She is awesome. It’s been a lot of fun. Everyone gets along and are all bending over backwards to ensure we have a great show.”

This year’s season, which began in October, featured four all-Canadian productions, a first for the company.

Lefebvre said she’s happy with how the season has played out.

“Every single show people leave and come up to me and say what a great show it was and that they can’t wait to see the next one,” she said. “The fact we still have one more show to do and I already have 100 subscriptions for next year is really something. It’s gratifying that people see us as their theatre company. You always see a lot of familiar faces at our shows, so it really is like one big family.”

Sidekick performs at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre in bistro-style seating, so the audience can come out and watch the play while sipping on a glass of wine and nibbling on snacks from the theatre’s concession stand.

The Ladies Foursome runs June 12 to 22 (Wednesday to Saturday) with shows at 8 p.m. There will also be a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, June 16. Tickets can be reserved by calling 604-288-2415.
