The Tsawwassen Shrine Club is getting set to grill up its annual salmon feast this weekend in Ladner.

The service club’s 50th annual Salmon Barbecue fundraiser runs from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 at Ladner Harbour Park.

Club members will be serving up a tasty meal of barbecued salmon with fries, coleslaw and a bun for $13.

“We’re incredibly excited to be doing this barbecue for the 50th time, and it could only be possible with the outstanding support we receive from the community,” said club member Jeremy Colwell.

“The Tsawwassen Shrine Club has always been engaged in supporting the community, as well as the Shriners Hospital for Children. As a group, all Shriners are committed to the philanthropic nature of our event. We have a couple other community groups joining us this year, including OWL, plus there will be things for the kids to do, including some games as well as the on-site playground.”

Colwell said the event has been successful for so long because the residents of Delta recognize the importance of the work done by the Shriners Hospitals for Children in treating orthopaedic and specialty conditions for kids.

“And, of course, getting out to enjoy the beautiful park in Ladner, and enjoying some barbecued salmon is a great part of the Delta experience,” he said.
