The club, which has grown to 350 people in a year, offers festival-style tasting events with 12 to 14 different wines she’s selected. The events are usually seasonally-focused.

“It’s been super fun,” says the Tsawwassen resident.

The next event is set for next Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Petras by L’Aromas in Tsawwassen.

The aim is to introduce people to unique, great value wines in a “night out” setting.

Having worked in the restaurant industry, Hamilton says she was “bitten by the wine bug” and became a sommelier. She went on to work for Trialto Wine Group.

Hamilton says while she was on maternity leave she put up a post on a local mom’s group on Facebook to gauge interest in a wine try and buy night. After an overwhelming response, she created her own Facebook group and started putting on events.

Tickets are $30 to next Friday’s Try & Buy Club event and can be purchased at www.crystalrecommends.com.

She says prices typically range from $15 to $40 per bottle and those buying have to purchase in six-bottle minimums.

Hamilton has also launched a Master Class Series for smaller groups geared more towards education.
