South Delta teens Shelby Satterthwaite and Sean Cuevas will take to the stage next week in Vancouver as part of an all-youth cast in Seven Minutes in Heaven.

The Eternal Theatre Collective production, set in 1995 and written by Steven Levenson, is described as a “startlingly accurate look into the minds of teenagers.”

Tsawwassen’s Satterthwaite, 18, says the play is very much a coming of age story and has a nostalgic feel.

She plays the role of Margot, a character who just wants everyone to get along.

“I really like it. It’s a lot of fun,” she says.

The South Delta Secondary grad performed in the high school’s production of Thoroughly Modern Millie last year and was also part of the cast of Delta Youth Theatre’s Annie.

Satterthwaite says she enjoys theatre since she’s able to “tell a story that means something to me or other people” and likes entertaining others.

Ladner’s Cuevas, 16, will be making his debut on a professional stage.

“It’s an awesome learning experience,” he says, noting the show has an “awesome” cast and crew.

He plays Derek, a character who wants to be cool and fit in but is “doing things that are a little too grown up for him.”

The play is very funny and has lots of good jokes, he says.

Every Eternal Theatre Collective production is produced and performed by youth aged 13 to 25.

The play runs from March 7 to 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Studio 16, 1555 W. 7th Ave., Vancouver. Tickets are either $13 (youth 25 and under) or $20 and are available at www.eternaltheatre.com.
