Spring jazz series returns Friday night

Ben Lockwood returns to the Tsawwassen Arts Centre on Friday night for a concert in his on-going Spring Jazz Series.

Lockwood will be joined by special guest Mike Allen on sax, Winston Minkler on bass and Joe Poole on drums.

Show starts at 8 p.m. with doors at 7:30. Tickets are $20, available through the Arts Centre box office, or on the door.

Lockwood says some Miles, Mingus, Getz, as well as some of Allen’s original tunes off of his new Cellar Live release will be in store for the show.

For the Love of Art & Moms is a show and sale in Ladner this Saturday, May 11.

The sale, hosted by For the Love of Art in South Delta and coordinated by artist Jan Rankin, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Fisherman’s Hall (4481 Savoy St.).

There will be 12 artists and artisans sharing and selling their wares, live music by Don Lonsdale and a concession fundraiser for the South Delta Secondary Dry Grads.

For the Love of Art in South Delta is a non-profit organization that was formed last year to support local artists and artisans in the communities of Ladner and Tsawwassen.

Meet the birds

Greyhaven birds will be hosting their spring open house on Saturday, May 11.

Come meet the birds, eat some wonderful pastries, tea and other snacks while helping to support this sanctuary organization that recently re-located some of its operations to Ladner.

The open house is from 1 to 4 p.m.

Church spring fling

All Saints Church, (4755 Arthur Dr.), will be holding a Spring Fling on Saturday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be hangings baskets, plants, baking and more for sale as well as refreshments.
