CCR dominated the airwaves in the late 1960s and early '70s with hits like Proud Mary, I Put a Spell on You, Suzie Q, Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising and many more.

Completely Creedence features Jamie Robertson (vocals and rhythm guitar), Pat Steward (drums), Murray Atkinson (guitar) and Todd Smiley (bass guitar).

“Never played Ladner… it’s our first time there,” Robertson told the Optimist. “We are playing the Anvil Centre the night before in New West, so we are doing a mini Vancouver tour.”

Robertson said the band was formed four years ago and has undergone a few changes with the current lineup in place the past two years.

“The audience can expect to have a lot of fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously until it comes to the music,” he said. “I grew up listening to CCR my whole life. I’m 55 now and that was playing in my house when I grew up. My parents loved it. Fortunately my voice and Fogerty’s voice are similar so we are able to get away with it.”

Robertson said people are still filling theatres up so they must be doing something right.

“People keep coming back out, which is great,” he said. “We are just having a lot of fun. It’s really entertaining. We have a video board that is on behind us as we play and it’s all photo images of 1968 to 1973 when Creedence reigned.”

The Ladner concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at

Genesis Theatre is located inside Delta Secondary at 5005-45th Ave.
