Country Gold, featuring world-class tributes to country music legends Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash and Linda Ronstadt comes to Ladner’s Genesis Theatre on March 22.

Country Gold will hit the stage of Ladner’s Genesis Theatre next week.

The Original Legends of Rock ‘n’ Roll presents tributes to four country music legends on Friday, March 22 at 7:30 p.m.

The show will feature Marty Edwards as Kenny Rogers, Wendy T as Dolly Parton, Philip Bauer as Johnny Cash and Deborah Ledon as Linda Ronstadt. Also on hand will be the Gamblers All-Star Country Band.

Edwards says he must always be on his best behaviour because he’s got Kenny Rogers’ reputation to uphold.

The white-bearded Edwards often gets mistaken for the legendary country singer, which explains why his tribute show has been so successful for the past 16 years.

“I see myself as a Kenny Rogers ambassador, and I feel blessed to be able to sing his songs,” Edwards says. “I use music as a vehicle to transport people back to relive fond memories of the past… back to their first love and all the good stuff.”

Edwards performs many of Rogers’ hits, including She Believes in Me, Lady, Islands in the Stream, Ruby and Don’t Take Your Love to Town.

Edwards met the real Kenny Rogers in Billings, Montana, where he was doing a tribute show. Rogers was also doing a show and invited Edwards backstage after his performance. Just before leaving, Rogers told Edwards, “You better not get me into any trouble.”

Tickets are available at the theatre box office or charge by phone by calling 604-984-4484. See more on the show at www.CountryGold.info.
