The 46th annual Tsawwassen Sun Festival – set for Aug. 3 to 6 -- has a little something for everyone.

This year’s theme is Farm to Table and is a chance for Delta to honour its agricultural roots.

“Agriculture is so prominent in our community,” says event coordinator Elaine Campbell. “Farm to Table is about bringing our agricultural background into our festival.”

The four-day event kicks off Friday night with the antique fair, which runs Friday and Saturday at the South Delta Recreation Centre.

Saturday features the start of the volleyball and softball tournaments, a skateboard competition, music and food at Winskill Park and bingo at KinVillage.

Sunday’s highlights include the lawn bowling competition at the Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club, entertainment and food at Winskill and a drive-in movie, presented by the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen, at Beach Grove Elementary. Grease will be shown on the big screen at 8 p.m., but activities in the park start at 6:30 p.m.

Monday, the final day of festival, is one not to miss.

The day kicks off with a pancake breakfast, followed by the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen Parade down 56th Street, the classic car show and loads of entertainment, food, vendors and activities in Winskill Park.

“It’s hard to say what are the key events because there are so many events going on, but the antique fair, car show and parade are certainly events not to miss,” says Campbell. “All the events at Winskill, plus all the main stage events, marketplace and vendors – there are lots of things for everyone to do.”

As with many events of this size, a dedicated group of volunteers is needed to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.

Campbell says more volunteers are needed. Those wishing to learn more can email coordinator.tsf@gmail.com.

“It’s a great four days of fun for the whole family. We are looking forward to a great event,” adds Campbell.
