What’s happening this weekend in South Delta

This weekend is one of the busiest of the summer with a number of major events in Ladner and Tsawwassen.

The 14th annual Quilt Walk and Car Show takes over the streets of Ladner Village from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Presented by the Ladner Business Association, this is an event not to miss. Featuring more than 300 classic cars, 150 quilts, live music, vendors, food trucks and a pin-up pageant, there is something for everyone to see and do.

This weekend is one of the busiest of the summer with a number of major events in Ladner and Tsawwassen.

Here are the highlights:

 

Saturday

 

*The inaugural Bathtub Race and Festival, presented by the Rotary Club of Tsawwassen takes over Centennial Beach starting at noon. The race is at 1 p.m. and then the festival moves over to Diefenbaker Park for a live concert featuring Fab Fourever, food trucks, beer garden and the summer outdoor movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales starting at dusk.

 

*The summer concert series at the Town Centre Mall in Tsawwassen continues with a talented group of singers from Studio Cloud 30 from noon to 2 p.m. on a stage in the breezeway between Thrifty Foods and the Royal Bank.

 

*The Waterford in Tsawwassen plays host to a motorcycle show and shine and 15-minute motorcycle rides for the seniors/residents. The show and shine runs from 1 to 2 p.m. On hand will be the B.C. Motorcycle Drill Team and Gold Wing Road Riders Association chapters of the Lower Mainland.

 

*Starry Nights is back at Deas Island Regional Park from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Participants are asked to meet near the rowing club. Explore the park along a lantern-lit path, enjoy entertainment and discover fun facts about the creatures who make the park their home.

 

Sunday

*The ninth annual Delta Community Animal Expo promises fun for the whole family – including your furry friends. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ladner’s Memorial Park.

 

*All are welcome to attend the local BC Green Party’s picnic for fun and games, free hot dogs, drinks trivia with prizes and live music at Tsawwassen’s Centennial Beach in Boundary Bay Regional Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the picnic shelter near the concession.
