Angelina Ireland says she's upset someone would go so low as to resort to doing this rather than have an open discussion on ideas and the issues impacting Canadians.

It’s a disgusting act of intolerance and hate.

Federal election candidate Angelina Ireland had that to say after discovering that someone overnight decided to put a miniature Nazi flag with a swastika over one of her People’s Party of Canada election signs in Tsawwassen. Someone thought it would be clever to put "PPC" on their homemade flag.

The incident occurred on her political sign on 56th Street at 28th Avenue.

She described it as “an act of hatred and intolerance in our community. An assault upon democracy.”

Ireland said she reported the incident to police and wants whoever committed the act prosecuted.

“This is a disgusting act of cowardice. Those who would disparage and attempt to humiliate a person instead of debate ideas,” she told the Optimist.

Ireland described her party during the recent all-candidates debates as an historic movement, taking in people from all political stripes frustrated with the current political system and its parties.

Led by MP Maxime Bernier, who left the Conservatives, the party has candidates in every riding.
