IHIT investigating two suspicious deaths at Abbotsford residence

Police are looking for dashcam and security footage from the area.

Police are investigating two suspicious deaths in Abbotsford.

Abbotsford Police responded to 33600-block Arcadian Way on Monday after two adults were found dead "within" a residence, according to a police press release.

Const. Paul Walker says officers responded to the scene just before 10:30 a.m. and confirmed the deaths to be suspicious.

"Early indications suggest that this is not connected to the Lower Mainland gang conflict," says Walker.

Police have released the identity of the victims as Arnold De Jong, 77 and Joanne De Jong, 76.

Homicide investigators are still collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and constructing a timeline.

Police say at this stage, it is uncertain if the deaths were random or targeted incident.

“The safety of the citizens in Abbotsford, and the community as a whole, are of the highest priority. Every available resource is being utilized.” says Const. Paul Walker.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.

“We are sharing information with AbbyPD and following multiple leads,” says Sgt. David Lee. “We are asking anyone with information about Arnold and Joanne to call IHIT. There information may be key.”

IHIT is looking to speak to anyone with information about the incident or anyone who has dashcam footage or security footage from the area in the last 24 hours.

No further details about the individuals, including their age, is being released by police. IHIT has not made a statement regarding this investigation at this time.
